What the Sonics do in the draft with their 25th pick, is dependant on what they plan to do with their free agents. It seems that Ray Allen could be signed and traded. It also appears as highly likely that Antonio Daniels may be gone. With that said, the Sonics have a whole lot of talent at SF and SG, so I could see them looking at a big man or another point guard. The most likely players to fill those roles are: Chris Taft, Jarrett Jack, Francisco Garcia, Ersan Ilyasova, Luther Head, Andray Blatche, Wayne Simien, Randolph Morris.
The Sonics are most likely going to take Garcia, Head or Jack here. Taft will most likely end up with the Kings and Simien most probably will be a Rocket. The other picks seem like projects, Garcia, Head and Jack will be able to contribute right away.
At 48, I could see David Lee or Jason Maxiell being picked up. It may be that the Sonics lose Reggie Evans in free agency too, so an aggressive big man may be a good pick here.
www.nbadraft.net doesn’t even have Jawad Williams going in the draft. He would be an excellent pick up at number 55. I see Jawad as one of the best players in the draft. If he can become more consistent, I could see him being a fulltime starting small forward in the league. I honestly believe he could make Rashard Lewis expendable.
Whatever the Sonics do on draft night, they can’t really go wrong, the draft is so deep, and they don’t have to many holes to fill. If they can pick up Jarrett Jack, Jason Maxiell and Jawad Williams, the Sonics will score an ‘A’ from me for their draft night.
